I’m pretty sure I do. Least that’s what I’m told when I begin to list points of an argument by A, B, C. But seriously, being a scientist does train your brain to think in a particular way so that I often find myself being curious about quite ordinary things and asking “why is it like that?”

I think we all use science most of the times, scinec become part of our everyday life, we may focus on some parts when we do research, but for sure we are using it all the time.

Everyone uses science in their free time, even if they don’t realise it! When you use a microwave oven to heat up your food, that’s science; when you use your computer to go on the internet, that’s science; when you watch a 3D movie, that’s science; when you find the sweet spot on a cricket bat and hit the ball really far, that’s science!

I guess being a scientist makes me think more about the science behind every day life. This is normally good but can get annoying when I go to the cinema because I’m constantly looking out for bad science in films!

Yes and to some degree I think everyone uses science in their free time weather they realise it or not, after all cooking is just chemistry. At the moment I’m trying to grow some brussel sprouts which might sound more like gardening but because I do experiments on similar plants all day then I can use this knowledge to help me out– although they still seem to be dying! Science gives you a lot of skills such as learning to question everything and being able to think very logically around problems which you can’t help but use in everyday life.
