That is a great idea but whoever wins the money has to spend it on a science communication project and unfortunately can’t just give it away to a good cause. Instead if I won the money I’d buy equipment for a school to help them look at plant growth and show the students that plants are really interesting and amazing things to study.

If you join me in thinking outside the box a bit then this school equipment could actually benefit people in the future. Now you might have heard of the food crisis or food security and how people are predicting that in the future we might struggle to produce enough food to feed everyone. So if this school equipment could inspire just one person to go onto study plants they might become really important in helping solve the problem of food security and therefore the money really would have ended up going to a good cause.
