• Question: i've heard all about how the world will end in 5 billion years (something like that) is there any way scientists can stop it?? :)

      I guess you’re talking about the world ending because the Sun will expand into a red giant star and engulf us. Well the reason that the Sun will turn into a red giant is because it will have used up all of its hydrogen so I guess if we can inject more hydrogen into the Sun then it would keep on fusing hydrogen together to form helium like it does at the moment to produce energy. However I would imagine that the Sun burns up millions or billions of tons of hydrogen every second so we probably wouldn’t actually be able to do this!

      In my experience people are quite short minded and don’t really think about trying to solve problems beyond their life time so I suspect that if scientists could stop it this would be a bit of a last minute effort.
