• Question: is there any particular equimpment you enjopy using and why ?

      I’m not sure if you would consider this to be a piece of equipment but I really enjoying using the controlled environment rooms to grow my plants in. These are large rooms full of lights where you can set the light intensity, temperature and the humidity. I would like to tell you that I enjoy using these for scientific reasons but to be honest it’s actually because they are great to go into during the winter when it’s dark and miserable outside as they are always warm and light. Plus because the temperature and humidity can be changed then if you are growing the right types of plants it can feel almost tropical.

      I love using telescopes! While I’ve looked through telescopes lots of times at the night sky, there was one time where a big radio telescope in India called the GMRT was used by me and my boss to look at some galaxies. They don’t let you actually press the buttons to control the telescope but we got to go to India and watch while it happened. We went for a walk and saw the radio telescope move to look at the galaxies that we wanted to. There’s something amazing about seeing this massive instrument doing your bidding!
