THAT is a very good question. Is it right for me as a scientist to say incalculable? Well, it’s quite difficult to say exactly except that it’s opened my eyes to all sorts of things in the world that I doubt I’d have seen in some other careers. One of the best things has been to have had the chance to travel (lived) in different cities and countries so even in non-scientific senses it has taught me lots of things.

So much! Although sometimes I feel that all the astronomy I’m cramming into my brain has helped me to forget all the stuff I knew about dinosaurs when I was at school šŸ™

Lots and lots but I think that you lean stuff all the time no matter what job you do. Iā€™d probably have learnt just as much by being a graphic designer but it would have been different stuff. You do get to learn a quite a few facts but also gain lots of general life experience and common sense, for instance I now know that putting soil and water though a syringe is not a good idea as it can cause the end to come flying off and get you covered in mud!
