well, for qualifications, it took 4 years for a BSc and 4 years for a PhD. Then out in to the big bad world. Bu, really, in science, you’re learning all the time – every day is a school day.
I feel like I’ve been studying for all of my life! I guess school was 11 years and then A levels for 2 years. I spent 4 years as an undergraduate at university to get my Masters in Physics and now I’m in my 3rd year of my PhD. So that’s nearly 20 years!
As a PhD student I don’t have to go to classes or lectures so it’s not studying as you guys know it. But I’m still learning loads and doing research is my way of studying. I think I’d always like to be learning because otherwise I would get bored. Although I was saying the other day that I’m a bit sad that learning all this astronomy seems to have pushed everything I knew about dinosaurs out of my brain!
I started when I was 6 years old and now I am … (secret you know), but I studied 12 years at school and 7 years at university so far. wow! I have never though of that, thank you for your question 🙂
Some might say too long. After going through school and A-levels I was an undergraduate at university for 4 years and I’ve being studying for a PhD for about 2 years now. It seemed like a good idea to try and get it all out of the way at once.
