• Question: How long do u plan on being a scientist?

      As long as I can – which depends quite a bit on how long Newcastle University want to keep employing me!

      I think once I finish my PhD I will always consider myself to be a scientist, no matter what job I get. Hopefully I will be able to find a job that lets me do research for at least part of the time but if not I would like to get a job that is somehow still linked to science like working in a science museum or being a science teacher.

      I honestly don’t know, my studies end in Oct 2012 and after that who knows what I’ll end up doing. It would be nice if it was still science based but part of me would also like to try something completely different for a while – astronaut, circus performer, rock star……….The beauty of being a scientist is that it doesn’t trap you into one career but you can do lots of different things with it.
