Very good question. In my work, it seems to be just one subject, but deep down I need to know about some other areas as well such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, economics etc. So I never get bored of studying one thing 😉

Sometimes you do cast an eye at someone else’s topic and think that’d be interesting but usually that’s you just appreciating that all sorts of aspects of science are interesting. You can’t do everything and, in fact, it takes a lot of effort to do one or two things well so it usually doesn’t get boring.

Sometimes other areas do look more interesting and although I’m trying to answer just few questions there are so many different ways to go about doing this that everyday is different and you don’t get bored.

Well I’m studying one thing but actually there’s loads of interesting things I can find out about these galaxies so it never really gets boring! I get to use all kinds of different telescopes and get to figure out things like how far away these galaxies are, what chemicals they have in them, what physics is happening in them to make them look the way they do and whether all these galaxies are actually similar or we just think they are because we can’t see them properly.

Sometimes I think it would be cool to study the beginnings of the universe or try to find other planets but I’m pretty happy with what I’m doing right now. Of course I’m still quite young so I could always try to change what I research if I really did get bored!
