blimey, so many questions in one go. Okay:
      2) yes but rewarding, yes and yes!
      3) some bits yes, just like any other job I imagine, but for the most part it is rewarding – even checking e-mails usually means I am chatting to other people interested in science like your good self!
      4) when a lab member sees the result of a tricky or really important experiment work out as they anticipated. When that happens it usually means they have discovered something new (however small a finding) and it always gives you a buzz that carries you through the times when you have to work hard leading up to those moments.
      5) I hope so but I’m also aware that you can’t please everyone all the time
      6) this has got lost but I think I answered it in another question earlier???
      7) no, many experiments can take a week or more to complete so it isn’t anything out of the usual. You do have to try and plan your time well though.
      8) This is the FA Vase cup played for by non-professional football teames from the lower tier leagues. It was on display at my sons school fair recently. We got our picture taken because it was won by our local towns team – Whitley Bay FC – for the third year in a row and I had been at Wembley a few days previously to see them win (you can see highlights at

      9) interesting, educational, rewarding,
